VINEYARD SOUND STEWARDSHIP

We worked within pre-existing constraints to transform this house, all while treading lightly, not increasing any impact on this fragile and incredibly beautiful setting.

Very often we are asked to transform poorly designed houses that occupy spectacular sites. Here the existing house, surrounded by wetlands, is just back of the dune on the Vineyard’s north shore.

We reworked the existing shell and opened up the roof with a balcony and seaward facing dormers, using broad windows to open the house up to the light, the sea. What had been a dingy 1960’s era “colonial” is now an open and bright, expansive contemporary house.
